making an unforgettable conference again
ThingsCon Amsterdam will happen again this year at 30 November and 1 December. We will continue pursue our mission to foster the creation of a human-centric and responsible IoT. We organised this year several salons on different topics, and we went to Shenzhen to experience a different culture of creating connected products. The mothership-conference will attract about 350 enthusiasts again this year.
We are happy to see that the ethics in design and tech is becoming really important in the general discourse. New developments like AI and ML (machine learning) makes it at the same time even more intransparent how technology will influence behaviour of the things we use. The Internet of Things as separate concept is becoming less important, but the characteristics of connected products and physical data nodes are the new normal. We see here especially a topic for us to empower designers and makers of the new things.
The urge to make the best things will be translated into a program that caters different needs from inspiration to hands-on tools.
We will use the different steps in creating the best connected products as structure for our conference. Expect a mixture of talks and sessions on:
_Reflect; where do we come from and where do we stand
_Learn; on new insights from research
_Design; dive deep in creating connected products
_Manufacture; on tools, platforms, technologies
_Predict; what will be next?
We value ThingsCon as a platform for the community of designers and makers, and even more than before we like to offer the chance to apply for a talk or session. Just like last year we will have a focus on the right mix between inspiration and in-depth sessions. We offer three formats this year to apply for:
Session 1 hour for 10-30 people; minimal 50% group interaction
Workshop 2 hour; making, brainstorming, designing together around a specific topic
Suggest a keynote speaker; who do you want us to invite for one of the keynote slots
